It’s Over

February 25, 2010

Kevin Durant’s streak of 25 point games was snapped last night when the Spurs held the phenomenal scorer to 21 points on 7-19 shooting. His streak had reached 29 games, which is incredible. I mean, really incredible. He is one of the two best/easiest scorers in the game along with Carmelo.

These guys can drop in 20 points in a quarter and it never seems forced or not in rhythm with the offense. And Durant is the only legitimate consistent scoring threat on the Thunder (Westbrook is still developing) and yet the defenses cannot stop him. They know going into every game that if they can contain Durant their odds of winning increase exponentially, but usually they falter while attempting to stop KD.

Hustle and Loyalty

February 24, 2010

Zydrunas Ilgauskas is widely expected to be bought out from the Wizards and then resign with the Cavaliers a month after that. Many point to his loyalty to the Cavaliers organization, and the loyalty that is supposedly reciprocated, as an obvious reason that he will be back in Cleveland before Easter. Paints in the Point All-Star Podcast: Episode 20

February 24, 2010

In a very special All-Star edition of the Paints in the Podcast, The Champ, The Custodian, and The Franchise discuss why they like All-Star Weekend, watching basketball games in front of too many people, Team USA in upcoming years, The Custodian’s “Little Things All-Stars,” the Paints Dudes’ midseason awards, durability of NBA players, who will win the various competitions of All-Star Weekend, and then The Franchise plays “Figure It Out,” a new segment where someone attempts to guess a word surreptitiously dropped into the conversation by the other Paints Dudes. Further discussion topics include who will win laser tag, which All-Star best represents each Paints Dude, and ranking the East and West’s playoff seeds. The Freelancer guest stars in Wildcard Time, where the Paints Dudes discuss Super Bowl commercials, how The Champ should improve his game, and why there aren’t any references to ****** ***** left in the final cut of the podcast. Champ’s Story Time tells the tale of the one time Champ raised his hand in class. A double dose of bonus material follows the conclusion of the podcast.

He’s Back

February 22, 2010

T-Mac is back. In his New York Knick debut McGrady scored 26 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, and notched 5 assists in 32 minutes of work. He hardly played in the overtime game against the Thunder, saying he didn’t want to be the hero and he simply didn’t have the energy. Oh well.

I’m Also Excited

He continues to fail to disappoint. John Wall, that is. Read the rest of this entry »

The Reunion?

February 18, 2010

This was in Slam Magazine a long time ago. A long time ago. This was back when Sebastian Telfair was seen as a viable option for a future point guard when he made the leap from high school straight to the pros. So yeah, its been a while.

The Aftermath

February 18, 2010

Antawn Jamison is a Cleveland Cavalier. Let it sink in. What does it mean? Is it the move that will finally put the Cavaliers over the hump in the Eastern Conference? Read the rest of this entry »

The Learning Curve

February 15, 2010

Its hard to pity millionaires. It’s really hard. They have access to all the pretty things in life. Yet, I have a tremendous amount of sympathy for Mike D’Antoni.

He has essentially gone from driving a Ferrari to driving a beat up Ford Taurus, yet he is still expected to accelerate from 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds. He may be a talented coach who has revitalized the concept of a high paced offense winning at a major level, but he isn’t a miracle worker. Read the rest of this entry »

The Future

February 14, 2010

I honestly can’t wait for John Wall to be a part of the NBA. I am more excited for his entry into the NBA than any other player not named LeBron James (for obvious reasons, we live in the same area code). While not watching the uneventful All-Star Saturday night festivities, I watched a little of the Tennessee-Kentucky game. Read the rest of this entry »
